Melawood Kitchens, seen by most people as a more affordable option, might be what burns your wallet the most later in life...
Let's be more specific about this somewhat controversial statement... Melawood is a great product. It can bring amazing style to a drab Kitchen, it has anti-bacterial additives, and with the newer designs being released, you can have a Kitchen that looks like it is made from Solid Wood, which is great for those who decided to opt for a smaller budget, or who is renovating a temporary living space.
BUT...
What makes Mi-Hi Solid Wood Products a Trusted Industry Trademark, for almost 40 years? Our 'Foundation', our Solid Wooden Carcasses, of course... Everyone knows that to build a Safe, Sturdy, Long-Lasting Home, you need to have a Solid Foundation, laid with Precision and Care... Why would it be any different with your Kitchen Cupboards?
Our Solid Wooden Carcasses brings Maximum peace of Mind... While it is slightly more expensive when you actually purchase and install a Solid Wood Kitchen, here are a few reasons why our Kitchens are the more affordable option in the long run...
WATER DAMAGE...
Melawood is Water Resistant... This unfortunately does not mean Water Proof... The main concern when using Melawood is moisture entering the chipboard interior... This can lead to many problems, including rot and swelling... While Solid Wood can also be susceptible to water damage, the effects are drastically less, and takes a (very) long time before it becomes anything close to a problem...
HINGES...
As we mount all our Doors, etc. onto Solid Wooden Carcasses, our Hinges have little to no chances of loosening or tearing out, except in extreme cases where, for example, a child would continuously hang on the doors... Even when we use Melawood Doors, our Carcasses is, and will always remain, Solid Wood.
AESTHETICS...
Melawood, as beautiful as it is, can be prone to chipping, glue losing it's bonding properties with age, and lamination tears over time... When this happens, not only are you painfully aware every time your eye catches the chip, sometimes the wood chips are exposed as well...
In a nut-shell, while Melawood Kitchens can look amazing, and is more affordable (at the time), it will need to either be replaced or fixed in a few years time, where as Solid Wood Kitchens (even if it's just the carcasses) will not... Making you pay for a Kitchen twice is not our goal.
